DS lists as a clue 8 R3C7, but I have no idea why. It also rates the puzzle as easy for some reason.

Well, in row 3, 8 cannot go in c3 (there's an 8 in r8c3). It can't go in c4,c5 or c6 (there's an 8 in box 2 already at r1c6). So the ONLY place 8 can go in row 3 is in c7.
