When a chain branches it is referred to as a net. The term -(7=9*)r2c6 after the vertical line "pipe" (shows where the chain branches) means, when r1c4 is set to 7 as shown in the grid r2c6 is set to 9. I have marked it with * to make it easy for others to follow as I have to use it later with the 3* in r4c6 set by the other chain which together eliminate 39 in r7c6 setting it 6.
