Dan, I don't know why your Skyscraper is a double; it's just a Skyscraper to my eyes.
At any rate, that was one of three solutions that I noted. The other two were a Kite on 3 pivoted in box 1 and a flightless XY-Wing on 39-8 pivoted in r5c3.
Clement, I can't see a Sashimi in c18. |

When using the"fin"or "filleting"rule it is permissible for the x-wing to be missing a corner in the finned box. The fin 39 is in r2c8 in BOX 3 (the finned box). The missing corner is in r1c8(the given 2).
The elimination: If r2c8=3; r1c79<>3. If not then r8c8=3; r8c1<3> r1c1=3; r1c79<>3 which solves it. |

It can be solved by one of my favorite techniques, creating pincers from the killer possibilities. The 8 proves 9 in r5c3; r5c7<>9 |

Marty,
Yes. But do not forget you are standing on the shoulders of midgets. 
The original UR + X-wing was deemed a tough nut at the time.
