Finned x-wing 8 in c35; r6c4<>8 solves it.
Also the w-wing 38 with strong link 8 in col 4; r5c1<>3.

Another 1-stepper is the 378 xy-wing with pivot at r6c4 setting r1c3<>7.

Analysis courtesy of Sudoku Susser:

* Squares R3C4 and R5C5 form a remote naked pair. <38> can be removed from any square that a buddy to both of them.

R2C5 - removing <8> from <78> leaving <7>.
R6C4 - removing <8> from <78> leaving <7>.

OR:

Squares R6C3 (XY), R1C3 (XZ) and R6C4 (YZ) form an XY-Wing pattern on <7>. All squares that are buddies of both the XZ and YZ squares cannot be <7>.

R1C4 - can remove <7> from <37> leaving <3>.

OR:

Squares R6C4 (XY), R1C4 (XZ) and R6C3 (YZ) form an XY-Wing pattern on <3>. All squares that are buddies of both the XZ and YZ squares cannot be <3>.

R1C3 - can remove <3> from <37> leaving <7>.

OR:

A BUG in the puzzle forces R6C5 to be <8>.

There is also a W-wing that I have marked above. No doubt there are other moves of similar difficulty.

Keith

George, I'm sorry, I just don't understand your statements. I do see where that 8 is removed by the Skyscraper in r25.
