				| It's my first week of trying to solve Sudoku puzzles. I thought I was doing ok, until this one. The hint has baffled me
 006 080 040
 743 205 980
 810 094 000

 001 000 008
 267 859 413
 300 102 600

 030 908 004
 000 407 139
 070 530 800

 hint says r1c2=2 how come

 2 can exist in r3c3, r8c2, r7c3,r8c3,r9c3

 3x3 box3 has 5x 2 options

there are no unique rows, cols or box's

 r1c1 (5,9), r1c2 (2,3,9), r3c3 (2,5)

Is there something with this pattern?

 help please

 KT

				| What about this approch:
 - - 6 - 8 - - 4 -
 7 4 3 2 - 5 9 8 -
 8 1 - - 9 4 - - -
 - - 1 - - - - - 8
 2 6 7 8 5 9 4 1 3
 3 - - 1 - 2 6 - -
 - 3 - 9 - 8 - - 4
 - - - 4 - 7 1 3 9
 - 7 - 5 3 - 8 - -

 5 not in r7c1, it is in r8c1 or r8c2 or r8c3
 5 not in r7c3, it is in r8c1 or r8c2 or r8c3
 2 in r7c3 - unique cell
 5 in r3c3 - unique cell
 9 in r1c1 8 in r8c3 - unique cell
 2 in r1c2 5 in r8c2 - unique cell

 does it help you?

				| Thanks. I'd missed something. These are quality puzzles aren't they!

 (I'd missed the 5's that exist in r7 c7&8, so couldn't exist in r7,c1&3
 so therefore no unique numbers

 Thanks again KT
