Mothers Day here so goofing around.

 	  | Code: |

+-------------+--------------+-------------+

| 245 456 256 | 36  23  1    | 7   8   9   |

| 9   7   26  | 8   4   26   | 3   15  15  |

| 3   8   1   | 9   7   5    | 2   6   4   |

+-------------+--------------+-------------+

| 6   1   9   | 34  5   7    | 48  24  238 |

| 245 345 7   | 346 238 2368 | 9   124 123 |

| 24  34  8   | 1   9   23   | 5   7   6   |

+-------------+--------------+-------------+

| 8   2   4   | 5   6   9    | 1   3   7   |

| 7   56  3   | 2   18  4    | 68  9   58  |

| 1   9   56  | 7   38  38   | 468 245 258 |

+-------------+--------------+-------------+

r6c6 - r9c6 - r9c5 - r1c5 means that r5c5 cannot be 2

Hence r1c5 must be 2 |

Unless I made a mistake, this Mothers' Day puzzle can be solved with just basics.

Kathy,

You may very well be correct. However, I'll offer some free advice (worth what you paid for it) based on personal experience. When you solve a puzzle with basics and no one else confirms it, take a second shot at it.

I got stuck here after my basics:

 	  | Code: |

+-------------+--------------+------------+

| 245 456 256 | 36  23  1    | 7  8   9   |

| 9   7   26  | 8   4   26   | 3  15  15  |

| 3   8   1   | 9   7   5    | 2  6   4   |

+-------------+--------------+------------+

| 6   1   9   | 34  5   7    | 48 24  238 |

| 25  35  7   | 346 238 2368 | 9  124 123 |

| 24  34  8   | 1   9   23   | 5  7   6   |

+-------------+--------------+------------+

| 8   2   4   | 5   6   9    | 1  3   7   |

| 7   56  3   | 2   1   4    | 68 9   58  |

| 1   9   56  | 7   38  38   | 46 245 25  |

+-------------+--------------+------------+

You're right, Marty. When I tried it again I needed the 236 xy wing..... |
