so I got stuck and went for a hint as seen below, but I do not understand why it should be a 9 there. Was a piece of cake after this, but why should the 9 go there? Thanks.

When you evaluate the possible values of r4c7 and r4c8 you get {8,9} for both of them.

[It seemed quite a coincidence to me, but maybe it isn't;
All the constraints except the 3 arise from row4 and box6 which share these cells.]

Anyway, the 8 and 9 of row4 have to be here in box6.
So r4c1 can't be a 9 too.
