I had three moves, all on 1.

Flightless xy-wing -149 with vertex in r2c8 and a pincer transport,
skyscraper 1 in r8c29,
another flightless xy-wing -145 with vertex in r3c3 and pincer transport.

+++++++++++

Dan, very nice move.......

Danny,

In your grid there is an XY-wing 59-58-89. Extending the 59 pincer by grouped coloring to R8C9 eliminates 9 in R8C4.

(Which is how I originally solved it.)

Hello Keith,

I normally check the puzzles posted in this group, but I try to only post unusual solutions that catch my eye ... or answer questions that may be raised. That way, I'm hoping not to interfere with the well-earned solutions like you and others post.

Regards, Danny

FWIW: There's a <15> gM-Wing present in the first four cells of my chain.

i did singles a box line reduction and naked pair

bringing it to here:
Code:
.--------------.-------------.----------------.
| 19  6    159 | 57  4   17  | 3     2    8   |
| 34@ 13@  2   | 58  6   18  |-1459 -49   7   |
| 8   7   -145 | 3   9   2   | 145   6    14@ |
:--------------+-------------+----------------:
| 19  5    8   | 2   13  6   | 7     349  49  |
| 2   4    3   | 89  7   89  | 6     1    5   |
| 6   19   7   | 4   13  5   | 8     39   2   |
:--------------+-------------+----------------:
| 5   8    49  | 1   2   3   | 49    7    6   |
| 34  139@ 6   | 79  5   479 | 2     8    149@|
| 7   2    149 | 6   8   49  | 149   5    3   |
'--------------'-------------'----------------'

then used a hybrid wing. (better viewed as aic)

AIC 4- r2c1 -3- r2c2 -1- r8c2 =1= r8c9 -1- r3c9 -4 => r2c78,r3c3<>4

and its all singles from here out..

interesting...
I was calling this a mixed w-wing.

strong link on 1's in row 8 join the (14) cell in r3c9 and the (13) cell in r2c2,
much like how a w-wing joins two bi-value cells, except obviously these cells aren't identical. so you would need one more link to provide the pincer 4 in this case.

(4=3)r2c1 - (3=1)r2c2 - (1)r8c2 = (1)r8c9 - (1=4)r3c9

so the part in red would be the "hybrid" w-wing

i was using udosuk's examples of a hybrid wing.
im not 100% sure what to call it if anything.
it kinda fits, but? (...type 6 fits better...)

its a funky move that works pretty good either way Smile
