I really would appreciate the next move. Too many hours on this one already. I'm retired and I have other things to do.

Hi,

I will try to help you, but just a little bit, with some hits, till setting of the next number.
Starting from:
Code:
  . . 2 5 8 4 . . .
  . 4 7 9 1 6 5 . 2
  . 6 . 3 7 2 4 . .
  1 . . 7 . 3 . 4 .
  . 5 . 4 . 9 . 1 .
  4 7 . 8 . 1 . . 9
  . . . 6 4 5 . 7 .
  . . 4 1 9 . . 2 .
  . . . 2 3 . 9 . 4

1 not in r7c2, 1 not in r7c3
Hidden Pair 1 5 in r3c3 and r9c3
6 not in r5c1
8 not in r5c1, 8 not in r7c1, 8 not in r8c1, 8 not in r9c1
Hidden Pair 6 7 in r8c1 and r9c1

and now you can start setting the digit 5 (for example):
5 in r8c9 - Unique Horizontal

hope this helped ...
if not, I can detail the moves ...

see u,

Try eliminating the 1's from row 7, c 1,2,and3... the 1's in row 7 c 7, 8 and 9 force them out. There is also a "hidden pair (the 1 5) in column 3. Also, all the possible values of 8 in the first column are in row 1, 2 and 3 - eliminates all other possible 8s from that column.

If I may suggest a "heresey" another site - sudukosan.com - has a terrific program that sweeps for all possibilities and gives you meaningful hints - it tells you WHY you can perform certain moves. Use it a few times and you'll learn a lot (I did) and won't nreed it (as much!) as you get better.
