OK, thanks, I see it now. The word "kite" threw me off and I kept looking at box 3 based on my understanding of what one is. Despite some of the terminology used, it looks to me like ordinary multi-coloring starting in row 8.

Thanks again.

Kite with an extension? Confused

Dan, a funny thing happen on the way to solving this puzzle. My first move was also a kite with extension (transport, coloring) to delete the <6> from r4c3. However, my kite was in b8(a,b) with pincer in r9c9 transported to r1c3 via r1c9. Kool first move ...........

Ted

p.s. After several other small moves, I am now stuck.

After the eliminations described above by daj95376, there is some simplification and then an obvious X-Wing. After that, one gets here:
Code:
+------------------+-------------------+------------------+
| 9      38    6   | 138    13    2    | 45    7     45   |
| 23     7     4   | 6     *39    5    | 1     8     29   |
| 28     1     5   |*789    4     78   |*29    6     3    |
+------------------+-------------------+------------------+
| 1368   5     138 | 1239   7     1368 | 239   4     129  |
| 1346  A349   2   | 139    5     1346 | 7    @3-9   8    |
| 7     a3489  138 | 12389 *1239  1348 | 6     2359  1259 |
+------------------+-------------------+------------------+
| 134    6     7   | 1235   123   9    | 8     235   245  |
| 5      238   138 | 4      6     13   |b239  B239   7    |
| 34     234   9   | 2357   8     37   | 45    1     6    |
+------------------+-------------------+------------------+

There are various other moves available. However, keeping with the transported Kite/Turbot Fish pincer theme, there is a 9 Kite, marked *. Using the conjugate pairs in c2 and r8, the r6c5 pincer is transported to A and the r3c7 pincer is transported to B. The AB pair eliminates <9> from r5c8, marked @ and solves the puzzle.

I reached the same stage as noted in the code posted by Asellus plus a deletion on <9> at r6c8 using multi-coloring, but I missed the great final transported kite on <9>.

I finally finished the puzzle with a chain, a w-wing and multi-coloring. I am now exhausted and am off to bed!

hm. Slowly catching up with some of the puzzles here...

This one is special in that it starts off with an advanced move. No preliminary elimination, no hidden or naked singles, pairs, nothing.
Had to fill in all the PMs. Rainy day indeed.

In the initial grid, I used (multi-) coloring to remove 6 from two cells: r3c1 and r4c3:
Code:

+·····+·····+·····+
·    *-----------*·
·     ·     ·   /|·
·     ·     ·   ||·
·     ·     ·   /|·
·o   o·     ·  * |·
+·····+·····+··|·|+
·o   o·  * o·  | |·
·     ·  |  ·  | |·
·*---------*·  | |·
·     ·  |  ·  | |·
·     ·  |  ·  | |·
+·····+··|··+··|·|+
·     ·  |  ·  | |·
·     ·  |  ·  | |·
·     ·  * o·  * |·
·     ·     ·   \|·
·     ·    *-----*·
+·····+·····+·····+

( (6) -r1c3=r1c9-r9c9=r9c6-r5c6=r5c1- )

[edit: I see now that this is the third one of daj95376's "simple start" suggestions]

Then some cleanup (now the puzzle had started to feel more regular Smile ) and here
Code:

+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 9       38      6        | 138     13      2        | 45      7       45       |

coloring again to remove 9 from r5c8 and r6c8
