Correction: This is more difficult than I originally surmised. It takes additional steps to complete.

Hmmm... only two steps for me:

[1] 578 XY Wing in c2-r7 with <5> transported from r7c8 to r8c5 removes <5> from r4c5. (Or, this can be seen as a 5-cell XY Chain.)
[2] 348 XY Wing removes <8> from r2c3.

PS:
After that <5> elimination there is an interesting 6-cell 129 DP in c23 that would eliminate a couple of <3>s in r1. But, it's not necessary.

I used a multi-coloring on 5 which I don't know if it was needed. At any rate, then an XY-Wing on 785 with pincer coloring broke it open.

There are two W-Wings from [r4c2] -- one of which produces this elimination. Either W-Wing reduce the puzzle to where your [2] works.

Nice catch on the X-Wing not being needed before the [2] XY-Wing to complete the puzzle. I missed that.
