If someone is too proud of his sudoku skills, give him this puzzle. It can be solved with xy-wing and basics up to quads, but i would not recommend to solve it on paper. Just to fill in the pencilmarks is hard work.

btw there seems to be a flaw in the online program. There was a situation where an xy-wing leads to a number, but it had no hint available.

That was a long one.

The hardest part was to find that quad.

Usually, "hard", Times "fiendish" and the like take me 15-20 Minutes to solve on paper (perfect for breakfast Smile ). With this puzzle I was 21 minutes into it, with NO cells solved and just one measly naked pair before I finally spotted the quad! After that and with the first solved cell r1c9=1, the xy wing jumped right into my eye (69-59-56) and while I was at it, another one 78-79-89), but still another 10-15 minutes until the finish.

For you P&P guys out there - don't let yourself be discouraged. Just write real small Wink As Calvin's dad used to say "builds character".

click here to see a hint if you have trouble finding the quad
