Can't seem to make progress on this. I finally found an XY chain that solves it, but I'm starting to dislike those (seems a bit like guessing) and I wonder what the simplest way to solve this is. Can't justify the hint given by the solver.

Help please?

You've got locked candidates in column 9. The 1s in that column can only go in box 9, so 1s can't be present in columns 7 and 8 in that box.
