				| Hi,
 Yup, that is the point up to which you can get with the "normal" techniques.
 Now only "advanced" techniques will help.
 I will try "coloring" first and let you know ...

 We can see that:
 Nr=1 occurs=15
 Nr=2 occurs=7
 Nr=3 occurs=8
 Nr=4 occurs=4
 Nr=5 occurs=16
 Nr=6 occurs=18
 Nr=7 occurs=32
 Nr=8 occurs=21
 Nr=9 occurs=22

 To my experience, I will start with Number 8 that has 21 occurances, best chances for coloring (for a single number).

 see u,

 Well, I guess our guest isn't going to provide an update, so this note is probably just for the record. I'm not certain how many solutions the puzzle as posted here actually has, but it does have at least two.

  	  | Code: |  	  | 342 879 651  |  342 879 651
 768 451 392  |  768 451 392
 159 236 487  |  951 236 487

 471 365 829  |  417 365 829
 826 194 573  |  826 194 573
 935 728 164  |  539 728 164

 594 617 238  |  195 647 238
 613 982 745  |  683 912 745
 287 543 916  |  274 583 916

 Differences may be observed in the top left 3x3 box, in the middle left 3x3 box, and in the bottom left and bottom center 3x3 boxes; or, to put it another way, rows 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 are different, as are columns 1, 2, 3, & 5. dcb

				| You guys certainly rise to the challenge! What you've come up with is very interesting. Sorry not to update, but I didn't think it would be of interest. Once I had correctly placed the 9 in Box 8 in col 5 instead of col 4, I was away laughing. Thanks for your efforts!! | |

 WHAT is this process called "coloring"?

 Do those of us with only one pen (eg black or blue) or pencil now find
 ourselves at a major disadvantage? If so, how are the multiple colours
 used in deriving a solution?

 We are told that a digit with a particular frequency was the best to use
 first for the process. This frequency was neither the smallest or the
 highest. What leads to such selection?
