Hi there,

You've done pretty well so far! Let me help you on your way;

1. First, consider the interaction of Column 3 with Box no. 1. The only possibilities for Nr 9 in Box No. 1 are in cells r1c3 and r3c3. Therefore we can eliminate all other 9s from Column 3 which means you can eliminate 9 from r7c3 leaving the Nrs 3,8 as only possibilities for that cell.

2. Now, you have a really good clue as there is now a triplet of 3,4,8 in Box No. 7 ( cells r7c3, r9c2 and r9c3 ). This means you can eliminate all other 3,4,8s from Box No.7. In particular, you can eliminate the Nr 4 from cell r8c2 which means you can place Nr 4 in cell r8c5 and then Nr 6 in cell r5c5 and Nr 8 in cell r3c5.

Someone of your ability should be able to finish it from there.

Cheers.

Geoff - what can I say.....! Embarassed
I am aware of a repeated failing in myself to not recognising this situation ....ie. in this case, that 9 could only be in col 3 of box 1, therefore could not (OBVIOUSLY! ) be in col 3 of box 7.
Would you believe my friends ask ME how to do these things???!!!

Thanks very much for relieving my frustration. Very Happy
