Marty, Don't we need a X wing on 6 r19 (r7c9<>6) to put this to bed?

Gianni,

An XY-Chain is an AIC consisting only of bivalue cells. An XY-Wing is the shortest possible XY-Chain.

An XY-Wing Chain is where three remote pairs can serve as the XY cell of an XY-Wing as long as the first and third remote pairs see the XZ and YZ cells. In this case I saw no 46-5 XY-Wing, but but the three 46 cells serve as the XY cell and work with a 45 and 65 cell as an XY-Wing.

Yes, not by itself, but as a second move. |

Hugh, we need something; I can't see any additional basics. |

				Hi Marty,

if I can help, I think the problem is that, as in my case, I thought that to solve the scheme you would use XY-Wing Chain OR XYZ-Wing, not both.

That's why I asked you if you use other techniques after XYZ-Wing.

Maybe that's the misunderstanding with me and Hugh.

Could be. I do most of my puzzles with pencil and paper and, unfortunately, I'm prone to mechanical errors. I thought that neither the XY-Wing chain nor the XYZ-Wing was a one-stepper, so I played the chain first followed by the wing. I do not get upset when someone points out my errors and I urge you to let me know if you see something I did wrong. |

There are two XYZ-wings:

2-56 in R9C9

5-67 in R9C7

After the second you still need an x-wing.

HSH points out a number of other interesting possibilities:
