I just finished the MEDIUM classic puzzle for thursday, june 1, 2006.
Everything went easily until the last 18 boxes.
At that point I was stumped.

Finally I filled in a box with one of its two remaining choices.
(Yup, I guessed — a major SUDOKU "no-no.")
The last 17 boxes went down in order, and I arrived at your posted solution.

Next I worked the last 18 boxes starting with the other remaining choice.
That worked and gave me another solution.
Did anyone else find TWO SOLUTIONS for this puzzle????????

It is unique like all the others and needs nothing but singles.

In the original puzzle r6c7 is given as a 9. I think you must have missed this.

Yes, you ARE right.
Thanks for the help!
Case closed.
At least I solved the puzzle correctly - even without that 9.

I'm glad I signed on to this discussion board.
I, too, have been stumped with some of the "very hard" puzzles.
Now I know where to get help.
They all become "easy" once you discover the trick.

Bye now!
