Well spotted Clement. But I could never learn to like the few
'one X wing and that's it' puzzles, hard to spot yet very unsatisfying somehow.
Perhaps better is the really easy to see W wing on 59s r2c5 r8c7 using the
19s in c8 setting r2c5 to9 stte.

Play this puzzle online at the Daily Sudoku site

Another X-Wing on 9 in c58; r2c2, r8c47<>9 also does it

Hugh, I'm confused, as I often am. With the strong link on 9 in c8 connecting the two 59 cells, that means pincer is 5 and the only direct elimination I see is -5r8c5. I don't see how r2c5 would be=9.

You're not confused Marty, just correct.

I found yeoks X-Wing but only after systematically checking the numbers one by one; column by column. Since I found one, I didn't get to the one that Clement found because I would have (hopefully) found it when I systematically went through the numbers one by one; row by row. Do you experts have an easier way to find these darn things or do you use the same systematic approach? (ugh.) I usually have a tougher time finding them than I do XY or XYZ-Wings (or even URs). These things can be tough to spot! Thanks in advance, Don.

I played the X-Wing. I never liked looking for them,. It's going row by row or column by column, noting the strong links and checking other rowos/columns.
