I noticed several interesting moves before I found this one step solution.

AXY-wing(19-4)r2c7+r2c6|r3c9 = (57-4)r3c9=(4-8)r1c9=(8-1)r7c9=r79c7-(1=9)r2c7-(9=4)r2c6; -4r3c46

Another solution is an "almost AIC".

AAIC {(2=8)r7c3-r8c3=r8c8-(8=1=9=4)r2c876-(4=2)r3c4} = 1r7c3-r7c79=r9c7-(1=9)r2c7-(9=4)r2c6-(4=2)r3c4; -2r7c4

This works without the AXY-wing part (which I didn't get): (4)r3c9=(4-8)r1c9=(8-1)r7c9=r79c7-(1=9)r2c7-(9=4)r2c6; -4r3c46

"I see, I see" said the blind man. I noticed the unusual characteristics of the "almost" path but did not pause to think about the implications.

The xy-wing consisted of pincer r2c6=49, pivot r2c7=19 and pincer r3c9=14; the almost extra part is r3c9=57.

Ron, do you have a suggestion for a more appropriate notational statement? Would brackets around the xy-wing make the meaning clearer?

Ted

Sorry, but I have no suggestion on notation. Using r3c9 as both a strong and weak inference set makes it a difficult AIC.
