Forgot what a Purple Cow is. Maybe this is a Green Guernsey or Jade Jersey, or maybe an XY-Chain, a little longer than I'd like, but I take what I can get.

R3c9=6-->r4c4=2.

It is supposedly a name for one of the un-named wings. If you ever see one -- let me know.

Hmmm. I checked the pattern listed for a Purple Cow, and came away with what I'm calling an L2-Wing. However, the Purple Cow pattern only indicates one of the two possible eliminations.

Code:
. . . | . . . | . . .
. *---1---*---2---* .
. . . | . . . | . . .
------+-------+------
. . . | . . . | . . .
. *-------1-------*#.
. . . | . . . | . . .
------+-------+------
. . . | . . . | . . .
. . . | . . . | . . .
. . . | . . . | . . .

(1)r5c8 = (1)r5c2 - (1)r2c2 = (1-2)r2c5 = (2)r2c8  =>  r2c8<>1, r5c8<>2

8. I-Never-Saw-A-Purple-Cow-I-Hope-I-Never-See-One-But-I-Can-Tell-You-This-Right-Now-I'd-Rather-See-Than-Be-One
# =/= 2

Code:
L2-Wing:  (X)a = (X)b - (X)c = (X-Y)d = (Y)e
          "a" and "e" in same unit; a<>Y, e<>X

Thanks Danny,

do you know of an example?

I will start looking. Cool

L2-wing
(8)r6c7=(8-6)r4c9=r5c9-r5c1=(6)r6c1 => r6c1<>8; stte

I am familiar with this L2-wing
a=(a-b)=b-b=b (the first and last ab must be in the same cell)

The pattern you showed was:
a=(a-b)=(b-a)=a (first and last a are in the same chute, different cells)

I have never seen one of these Confused --a real purple cow! Shocked

Help me find one!

Thanks for finding the purple cow Marty! Very Happy

I discovered the pattern I was confused with was really a skyscrapper. I had looked at Danny's pattern and saw something entirely different.

A Purple Cow is just a plain old vanilla L2-wing. I just didn't realize what they were.

It is amazing what morning will bring.
