Very strange ... I often solve very hard puzzles, yet this "hard" puzzle has me so stumped I can't get more than 3 numbers filled in!!! I'm totally puzzled (no pun intended). Wink

So far I have 8 in c1r5, 5 in c9r4 and 9 in c3r8. Draw gives a hint of 8 in c7r9, then 2 in c9r9. Those hints not only leave me clueless still, but I can't figure out why they make sense.

Any help?

Thanks!
Sarah

I dont know how you found this.
Anyway, the key is the naked triplet in box3/column 8.

...|2.3|...
.9.|7..|..8
------------

Ok I haven't checked it against original but my record is

f7d8i8g9i2f5c65

I have put an exclamation mark beside f7 implying something subtle!

The subtelty arises from the pair 56 in Cc and Cg (because of the 5 and 6 in col 8

Yep, now we are on the same line. The hidden pair 56 in box 3 (c) is the counterpart to the triplet i mentioned.

Sarah,

If you've made the exclusions from the naked triple in box 3, then the only possibility in box 9 for an 8 is r9c7, which then makes r9c9 the only possibility for a 2.

Tracy- Thank you. Your response was the only one that made any sense to me. I do not know what a "naked triplet" is... although I do have the limitations of 27 for c8r1, 28 for c8r2, and 278 for c8r3. So I see how the 8 must therefore be in c7r9. But c9r9 can still be a 2 OR a 4, no?

And what is George going on about? All his letters and numbers are a mystery to me...

I take that back -- I see why c9r9 has to be a 2!
Thank you.

Glad to see a response finally, Sarah, sorry for the "t" in "naked triplet" (i am not English), which seemed to confuse you so, that
- you could not see the triple in the 3 cells i mentioned
- not the naked pair i mentioned
- and you were not able to ask what i meant with it
i will .ry .o avoid .he "t" in the fu.ure Smile
