You can place several instances of the value "1" in this puzzle fairly easily.

Look at row two. The only possible values at r2c6 are {7, 8}. The only possible values at r2c8 & r2c9 are {1, 7, 8}. So the values {1, 7, 8} occupy these three cells, leaving the pair {4, 5} in r2c2 & r2c5.

Armed with this knowledge you can see that the "1" in column 2 must appear at r7c2. You can also infer from the triplet {1, 7, 8} that the "1" in the top right 3x3 box must appear in row 2, meaning that the "1" in row 1 must appear at r1c3, and the "1" in column 7 must appear at r9c7.
