Let's make this a "no" puzzle, shall we?

After swordfish (3)
and x-wing(2) (which is not necessary, I think),
a generalized m-wing (3) r4c3=r8c2 (via 7 in row 7,box 1) )here:
Code:

+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 3479    12479   8        | 6       139     1279     | 179     5       34       |
| 3479    6       24       | 12      5       179      | 179     8       34       |
| 5       1379    379      | 138     4       1789     | 179     2       6        |

| 6       2-3     5        | 4       7       23       | 8       9       1        |
| 4789    4789    24       | 128     19      189      | 6       3       5        |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 379#    5       79#      | 17      13      4        | 2       6       8        |
| 2       37*     1        | 37      8       6        | 5       4       9        |
| 48      48      6        | 9       2       5        | 3       1       7        |

Okay.

FWIW: X-Wing, Swordfish, XY-Wing.

Sorry, Danny, but I think it was you started the "no" series Smile

nataraj,

I believe your gM-Wing relies on <9> in r7. However, this, for me, is another case of a disguised ("mustachioed") XY-Wing.

To avoid the XY-Wing altogether, I was only able to find this AIC, via Medusa multi-coloring:
(4=3)r1c9 - (3)r1c5=(3-8)r3c4=(8-2)r6c4=(2)r6c3 - (2=4)r2c3; r1c23|r2c9<>4

Right, Asellus. I must admit it's not the first time it has happened to me. Must remember to double check for those xy-wings in disguise. Embarassed

It should be me apologizing to you Exclamation

I thought you were complaining that the puzzle was too difficult and that it should not have been presented. I didn't realize that you'd taken the more difficult route of a No puzzle on purpose. That's why I showed the alternate solution. Sorry for my misunderstanding!

===== ===== =====

I should have informed the forum that not all of the VH puzzles could be solved as No puzzles. Back when I was submitting puzzles from Set A as No puzzles, I was manually selecting only those puzzles that I knew could be solved without relying on chains any more complex than W-Wing and M-Wing.

Leaving still a (different) XY-wing as the path to the solution Crying or Very sad

I thought "AA" should be : "Acceptable to Asellus". Maybe it really means, this is driving me to drink. (Which is not a problem. I have a fine Cabernet.)

Hey! That XY-Loop is WAY AA!

Being in Sonoma County, I am enjoying a nice Italian Valpolicella this evening. You know how it is... taking the local stuff for granted. (Only kidding.)

nataraj,

I LOVE those mustache glasses (Schnurrbartbrille)!

No aplogy needed at all. There'll be plenty of small (and hopefully very few big) misunderstandings until we'll all get to know each other here on this great site.

Thanks for providing these great puzzles Very Happy

Actually, it was your post

By the way, I picture that mustache attached to a pair of those funny glasses. They don't fool me! I can still see that XY-Wing!

that suddenly helped me understand the meaning of "mustachioed xy-wing". I immediately pictured one of the Marx Brothers and did a google pic search "groucho marx glasses" ...

Oh, the blessings of the world wide web ...
