				Another one-stepper is a w-wing <67> located at r1c6 & r2c1 with strong link <6> in col7. Deletion of <7> from r1c3 finishes off the puzzle.

My solver tool box uses the x, xy, xyz wings. That is essentially it.
 
I am trying to expand that. Why wouldn't the w-wing, pointed out here, eliminate  both  <6> & <7> in r1c3? If not both, why does it eliminate <7> rather than <6> ? |

At the risk of repeating Marty's reply, there's an alternate way of viewing this 4-cell W-Wing. Work from the inside out!
 
 
Consider the strong link on 6 in [c7]. Either [r1c7]=6 or else [r2c7]=6.

Yes, I have read the tutorial, and I need to keep referring back to it. This stuff does not immediately sink in. At some point I will get the "aha" moment and it will become easy to apply---I think!

				Wow, that was a good tutorial on strong lengths and buddies. I think I will be able to put this to use, especially with skyscrapers---and 2-string kites too.  . Thanks for the heads-up on that!
