I found a couple of one-step solutions, but many, many "useless" steps. Still, it was a fun puzzle to fill the time ..............

Code:

 |7..|3..|4..|
 |.5.|94.|...|
 |.94|7..|85.|
 |---+---+---|
 |...|...|642|
 |.8.|.6.|.7.|
 |647|...|...|
 |---+---+---|
 |1.3|..8|7..|
 |..8|.74|36.|
 |...|..3|..8|

The best I could do was a three stepper.
x-wing
skyscraper
xy-chain

What did you use for your 1 steppers?

Dan, I used a "useless" xy-wing with transporting (coloring) pincers.

xy-wing <126> with pivot <16> at r2c6.
Pincer <26> at r2c3 transported to r1c3 => r1c8;
Pincer <12> at r3c5 transported to r3c6 => r6c6 => r6c4 => 47c4;
Delete <2> r7c8.

My second one-stepper was a w-wing also with transported pincers, but I can't find it now. Either the bottle of wine I had last night is still working this morning or I messed up yesterday when I originally solved the puzzle. Embarassed

Added Edit: After further review, I believe the "lost" w-wing solution was really a two-stepper involving a kite <1> then a w-wing <29> with transporting. However, I just found a w-wing <12> at r2c7 & r3c5 with strong link <2> in row9 that deletes <1> at r3c9.

Best I could do was a two-step:
x-wing (5), w-wing (19).

Excellent find! I finally figured it out.

the black boxes are the useless xy-wing

the blue lines are the extensions on candidate 2.

the red lines are the pincers and eliminations.

(2=6)r2c3-(6=1)r2c6-(1=2)r3c5-(2)r9c5=(2)r9c7; r2c7<>2

One-stepper: ravel's half M-wing.

Code:
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 7   1   26  | 3   8   5   | 4   29  69  |
| 8   5   26  | 9   4   16  | 12b 3   7   |
| 3   9   4   | 7   12a 126 | 8   5   16  |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 59  3   159 | 8   15  7   | 6   4   2   |
| 2   8   15  | 4   6   19  | 159 7   3   |
| 6   4   7   | 25  3   129 | 159 8   159 |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 1   6   3   | 25  259 8   | 7   29  4   |
| 59  2   8   | 1   7   4   | 3   6   59  |
| 4   7   59  | 6  -29  3   |259c 1   8   |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+

<1> in a forces <1> in b (but not vice-versa). Strong link bc on <2>. Eliminating <2> in R9C5. Cool
