This seemed to be one of the easier LA Times / Freep puzzles.
Details:

Ted's wing was my finishing step, but I used the UR first and it didn't finish it off unless I missed something.

After filling in pencil marks for a few two-candidate cells, there was a very obvious XY-wing. No pairs, no line-box interactions ...

I did not look at the details, but Sudoku Susser says either a UR or an XY-wing will do it.

Edit: The UR does finish it off, if you then slog through the basics.
