Hello, I have been doing sudokus for awhile and can normally get hard ones out , but struggle on most vh, however I don't see how to do this hard sudoku. I can get this far
Code:

+----------------+----------------+-------------------+
| 16 5     4     | 2    9    38   | 136    1368  7    |
| 2  8     17    | 6    5    37   | 13     4     9    |
| 3  69    679   | 1    47   478  | 2      68    5    |
+----------------+----------------+-------------------+
| 16 13469 13569 | 8    2347 457  | 134567 1356  1236 |
| 7  2     135   | 34   6    45   | 1345   9     8    |
| 8  346   356   | 9    2347 1    | 34567  356   236  |
+----------------+----------------+-------------------+
| 5  13    2     | 37   8    6    | 9      137   4    |
| 4  7     8     | 35   1    9    | 356    2     36   |
| 9  136   136   | 3457 34   2    | 8      1357  13   |
+----------------+----------------+-------------------+

Play this puzzle online at the Daily Sudoku site

When I play it online the hint tells me a 4 goes in R5C4, thus eliminating the 3, can anyone explain how this is done? Or if there are other solutions? Thanks. I have tried to look for X wings and xy chains but am unable to find any. I am not very good with the other techniques that are used in VH sudokus (eg RE UR and BUG)

I'm not sure why it suggests 4 there either. But anyway, in R9 there's a triple 136 (in C239) which kills the 3 in R9C5, making it a 4 - so now R5C4 must indeed be a 4.
