Not sure which W-wings Marty found, but the one I see produces the

Thanks, I see it now.

I had not seen the finned X-wing, so I still had a <5> at R8C2 that was

Oops!
That makes it very truly VH!

Earl

After doing Marty's XY-wing and a skyscraper on <7>s to eliminate
<7> from R1C7, you end up here -

Since todays VH went too smoothly, I found one that was truly VH.
Any one see the next move?

How did you eliminate 5 for R5C8?

So is it rare or normal that two strategies overlap each other, with the exact same eliminations?

Very common.

Look in Box 4 for the pivot of an XY-wing. Once you spot that you will be done.

One xy-wing and one UR did it for me.

Oops, my UR was not quite valid.

I still think it is nothing but singles from Earl's position though.

Take your time. It can be solved with x-, xy-, W-wing, UR and strong links (also 3 or Color wing).

One xy-wing and one UR did it for me.

From Earl's position -

Keith's posted grid has <179> at R3C5.
Would it not be required to eliminate the <1> in R3C5 to have a valid skyscraper?

The skyscraper is down columns 6 and 9.
