Asellus: I'm not sure what nice idea it is I am accused of dissolving.
When I read Keith's stuff about M-wings etc., I understood it all apart from half-M-wings. (In fact at first I guessed that it m ...

Thanks Asellus. I do get all that, tho' I'll confess to a little disappointment (not your fault of course) at the apparent dissolving of what seems a nice idea. Have a look at another 'half-M-wing' i ...

'Basics' solve most cells. To finish there are probably lots of ways. I used remote pairs of 57s.

Here's another way to look at Norm's 78s. It's a 3-step colouring chain in 8s from one #78 to the other via the 58s. So one of them must be 8 and the other must be 7. So they behave exactly like 'r ...

I realised, after I'd written, what was going on. Sorry, Keith, but I think that particular example is not the best you could have for a half-M-wing, the reason being that you can, as I explained, se ...

Looked hopefully at the identical pairs. I think all three 89s are what Keith calls 'complementary' - all 8s or all 9s. And the 28s are all related. But I couldn't see anything useful to do with thi ...

George: a w-wing 34 in boxes 5 and 6 Yep, or a 45 w-wing in rows 4 & 5.
Or a type 1 UR in r56 in 29s.
Or XY-wing - the one I see is pivoted on r4c1.
Many choices in a fairly straightforward pu ...

I think I understand half-M-wings, but I'm not sure. If you're feeling kind, or in didactic mood, I'd be grateful for a brief explanation.

Thanks Steve, lucid and concise as ever! I do get that but, since I missed this one, life is such that I may well never see another. (I noted your recent remark that these things are rare.)
